Ranged has many weapons, and the most popular of these are bows. Players can wield bows as a weapon. However, they will need arrows as ammunition. Bows are the recommended weapons players use while ranging. All bows only give a range attack bonus.

Some bows can only use certain arrows. For example, shortbows made of the lowest level wood can only use bronze or iron arrows. Non-members cannot use all the bows available in the game and can only use arrows up to adamant.

Players also have a choice as to what kind of bow they want. There are three kinds of bows: shortbows, longbows and composite bows. Longbows are the more accurate and fire arrows further, though they can’t shoot as fast. Composite bows are between longbows and shortbows in terms of speed, but give a higher bonus than either. It is recommended that players use a shortbow or composite bow when ranging, especially when training, to deal more damage over time.

Player’s fighting in the Wilderness might like to take both a longbow and shortbow with them. Up close the shortbows firing rate will shine through and if a player’s opponent tries to run a longbow will give extra range.

With the addition of Lumbridge Tutors, there is now a new bow available, the Training Bow. It is a bow for Rangers fresh off Tutorial island. Claiming from the Ranged Tutor near the Lumbridge Guide will give you a training bow and 25 training arrows. You may get 25 more training arrows every 30 minutes; however the Magic Tutor and the Ranged Tutor work on the same 30 minute time block, so you can only have either Arrows or Runes every 30 minutes, not both.

Both tutors can be found at Lumbridge, near the Lumbridge Guide, South of the General Store (marked by an empty flour pot on the mini-map.)

Because of the time limit of 30 minutes, when your Ranged level gets higher, it is wasting your time waiting for the 30 minutes to be up, so you can get more Training Arrows. At around Level 5 Ranged it would pay to switch to the Shortbow with Iron arrows.

There was a glitchy space both in the north-west and north-east and southern areas of the Clan Wars arena. It allowed you to “drop” into the floor. Mysteriously, players could attack while under the ground. In addition, if you dropped an item in one of the glitched spaces, you could not pick it back up again. Many players used this glitch to hide from the other clan although they could be still seen on the minimap. This has been fixed as of 29 January 2008. 

There was a glitch in the north-west of the Classic Arena which allowed players on a certain square to become invisible on the avatar view. However, it was quickly fixed.
Some players may have an “Attack” option on other players outside of Clan Wars, despite not being able to attack anyone. This is especially likely to occur in a crowded world or if the clan wars challenge arena is crowded.
 
The inaccurate member-count glitch. Only three players are listed, but there are at least four alive in the arena.

The opposing team is listed as having no members, yet two can easily be seen.There is also a glitch that the upper-right box that displays the number of clan members on the field is inaccurate. There still may be multiple members of one side alive on the field, but that side may reach to be listed as having no players, making them lose. The cause is unknown, and this happens rarely.

Sometimes clans would get what are called “split wars”. It is one part of that clan is in one war while, another half, usually a single person, is in another. The cause is when while an original war is going on, a new clan mate who joined during the fight accepts or offers and war. That player and others who are not in the original war can go in the second war. This glitch only happens every once in a while.
On the 14th of October 2008, the Wise Old Man appeared in Clan Wars telling people that gravestones will not appear in free-for-all (dangerous).
There is a glitch when a player uses a viewing orb and uses a Protect prayer, the protect symbol will appear in the seen position in the orb. The same glitch occurs even when you’re talking and you are viewing the orb at the same time.

RunescapeFor Runescape players out there, there is next to nothing more horrible than losing your most prized items–not because they were taken off of your slain player’s body, but because you were tricked into giving them to someone in a legal trade.

There are a few major scams that abound: the ‘Hey, give me your items real quick and I’ll give you something cool.’ scam, the ‘Drop Your Items and Hit Alt + F4′ scam, scams where one player goes into the Wilderness following a player they believe to be their friend into a trap, among others. Last two artils we have make many scamer ways in game exit . Now i make about 10 tips on how to avoiding runescape scames in game for your conference.

1)Watch the second trade screen closely before accepting. The October update makes this scam impossible. Because you cannot trade out of the 5-10k (depends on quest points) limit (for non-members) and up to 60k for members. Even Mithril is worth more then 10k, so as stated before this no longer applies.

2)Know what the “true” value of items are when trading. The January 2nd update makes this scam impossible. Whenever you trade an item it now shows the value of the item

3)Do not ever go to the wilderness to trade. Don’t even come close to the ditch with your valuable items and money. Some players may say they want to trade somewhere close to the north but they are actually trying lure you into the north so that NPCs can kill you. Remember, the wilderness is the only place that is NOT secure for trading and you are likely to be killed by the renevant ghosts.
4)Beware of keystrokes. One common scam is to tell someone that if they drop 5 coins on the ground and hit Atl-F4 it will double. This is not true and Alt-F4 closes your web browser so you can’t stop them from taking the money. Do not press any keys without knowing what they do on your computer first.

5)Watch out for auto-talkers with great offers. Most scammers are lazy to type, so they use auto-talkers and use different colors and effects to their writing. They use catchy phrases or unbelievable, generous offers to bring you to them. Auto-talkers are against the rules of runescape. So report those who use them!
6)You may also want to add the player that you are trading with to the friend list so if they log out and you don’t remember their name you can always copy it from your friend list.

7)Try to learn the scams which exist so that you are protected from them. If you check How to Scam in Runescape(article has been deleted) you will know about, and be protected, from many scams.

9)Before agreeing to a trade on the forums, ask the player where the trade is going to take place. Sometimes players offer good items for a low price… But want you to meet them in the middle of the Wilderness. If that is the case, you can report them on the Forum Emergencies sticky in the General Forum.

10)You may also want to add the player that you are trading with to the friend list so if they log out and you don’t remember their name you can always copy it from your friend list.

Scamming is to deceive or trick another player for one’s own personal gain. Deliberately lying to others about how much an item is worth and the rarity of an item is considered a scam. A trade that seems too good is most likely a scam and thus you should be extra careful when you are trading. Remember that Jagex cannot and will not return any lost or stolen items, so it will most likely be your fault if you get scammed. Also, lying to players to gain account information is also considered password scamming and should be reported instantly.

Then the scammer would ask you if you would like to join their clan. Often, they would say, if you join the clan, you will get full rune or a santa free. They would show you the santa or rune in a trade.

Then, both the scammer and the scout would ask you to do their trust test. The scammer says that he must take everything off and give it to the next person. Then the next person would wear it and give it back. Both the scammer and the scout do the act of trading and giving back.

Now, they ask you to do it. You take off your armor and trade it to them and they don’t trade it back to you.

Item Type Switches
Scammer changes a valueable item which you want to buy for a simmilar but of less value item, for example:
White party hat for Purple Hat
Rune G for Rune T
Magic Logs for Oak Logs

Solution:Be very careful on these trades as normally big money is involved. Do [color=red] NOT[/color] rush

Runescape Team scamming

Be careful of players selling strange items for high prices. You may see that a player is selling an item at a certain price and another player buying the same item at a higher price. Be very careful of such scams, and make sure you know the item well before buying it.

Scammers using Impatience

Someone offers way to much for what you’re selling. He keeps on declining and stalling and asking noob questions, but you don’t care because you just want the money.

Soon you get impatient and just keep pressing accept. When he sees you’re getting impatient, he notices that. Then, he pulls it away while you keep pressing accept.

The Trust Scam
The Scammer asks you to give him an item and in return hell give you the item back as well as giving a gift/acceptance into a clan/or some other bogus thing. Either way, don not do it as youll just loose your item.

Giving away free accounts

The above is not only against the rules of conduct, but also might be a scam. If you see anyone doing so, report them for Account sharing/trading.

Person B thinks: *WOW, cheap!*
Person B trades Person A
Person A puts up 5,000 Yew logs, asking person B to hurry as they have to go.
Person B puts up the money; Person A declines, and says “Oops”
They trade again, Person B puts up the money, Person A puts up a DIFFERENT type of log; Person B accepts without checking the trade screen - Person B has been scammed, Person A logs out.
This often occurs with logs, noted armour and weapons.

Luring As Scam

Be careful of all luring scams, as the scammer may attempt to get you killed (either by NPCs or by other players) to gain your items. Kindly decline if you know what the player is offering you to do is dangerous, it’s not worth to show off and lose your items as a result.
